Catalina Sopelana is a Spanish actress from Madrid best known for her work in contemporary films and series on Spanish television and streaming platforms. With a background in psychology and later formal acting training, she has become one of the promising faces of Spanish thrillers and character-driven dramas, including major Netflix projects.

Early Life

Born on 30 October 1992 in Madrid, Spain, she originally studied Psychology at university. During her final year she joined an amateur theatre group and discovered a strong vocation for acting, which led her to continue training at Juan Carlos Corazza’s acting studio.

Career

She made her feature film debut in Carlos Vermut’s “Quién te cantará” (2018) and later appeared in “Outlaws (Las leyes de la frontera)”, “Manticore”, “Prison 77 (Modelo 77)” and “The Blue Star”. On television she is known for Netflix’s “The Neighbor (El vecino)”, “Sky Rojo”, “Wrong Side of the Tracks (Entrevías)” and “The Gardener”. In Netflix’s thriller series “The Crystal Cuckoo” she plays Clara Merlo, a young resident doctor who starts investigating the identity of her heart donor, placing her at the center of the mystery.
