Biography
R'Bonney Nola Gabriel is an American fashion designer, model, and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Universe 2022. She is the first Filipino-American to win the title and the ninth American overall. Gabriel is known for her advocacy in sustainable fashion and her work as a sewing instructor at Magpies & Peacocks, a non-profit organization.
Early Life
R'Bonney was born and raised in Houston, Texas, to a Filipino father and an American mother. She developed an interest in fashion at the age of 15, which led her to pursue a degree in fashion design. Her multicultural background has been a significant influence in her designs and advocacy work.
Career
Gabriel began her pageantry career with Miss Kemah USA 2020, where she placed in the top five. She later won Miss Texas USA 2022 and subsequently Miss USA 2022, making history as the first Filipino-American to hold the title. In January 2023, she was crowned Miss Universe 2022. Beyond pageantry, she is the CEO of her sustainable fashion brand, R'Bonney Nola, and teaches sewing classes to marginalized communities.
